MoDOT to close 2 westbound lanes on Blanchette Bridge

ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close 2 left lanes on westbound I-70 Tuesday, April 22n for maintenance related to bridge rehabilitation. Work crews will close the lanes starting at 7 am, along with switching the 2 local right lanes at 10:30 am. A left lane on eastbound I-70 will also be closed at 9 am.

All lanes are expected to be reopened by 3 pm.

St. Charles County to start hazardous waste collection on May 1st

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – St. Charles County will start offering county residents a safe way to recycle dispose of household hazardous waste on May 1st. Residents will be able to drop off waste at the Recycle Works Central location on 60 Triad South Drive in St. Charles from 9 am to 3 pm Tuesday through Friday and on the last Saturday of each month.

Residents will have to pay a $10 fee to dispose of the waste, for up to 50 pounds. After 50 pounds, the fee will be $10, plus an addition charge of $1 per pound over 50 pounds.

She shows Tim Ezell all you have to do is cut the toe off an old (or new) sock and slide the sock over your arm and place your phone or music player between the sock and your arm.

One killed in St. Charles RV fire

ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – One person is dead after a mobile home fire Saturday morning in St. Charles. Emergency crews were called to the scene at the Cactus RV Park on Cactus Drive around 7:00 a.m.

“The heat from the flames was so intense, ” said  Frank Walker, a neighbor.

Walker and other neighbors said they tried to get the victim out of the RV.

“We tried to break into it.”

A St. Charles County sheriff’s deputy arrived first to the scene and also tried to get into the home. He had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

“He tried to go in, but was turned back by the flames,” Central County Fire Protection Chief Russ Mason said. “He was actually taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but he has been treated and released.”

The victim has not been identified, but neighbors say it was a man in his 60’s.

24 arrested for immigration violations in Missouri & Illinois

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Immigration and Customs Enforcement along with local authorities have arrested 24 individuals on criminal, fugitive and immigrations violations in St. Charles County Mo., New Madrid County Mo., Champaign County Ill., McLean County Ill., Effingham County Ill., and Jackson County Ill.

The arrest is part of an ongoing effort by ICE to enforce immigration and removal operations of criminals and immigration violators. Those arrested were wanted for sexual misconduct, felonious restraint, violating protection orders, felony driving under the influence causing bodily harm, battery, resisting arrest, criminal damage to property and illegal re-entry after deportation.

The nationally breakdown of the 24 men arrested, was as follows: Mexico (14), Guatemala (9) and India (1).
